Robinson Park

Natural Setting

Found in Northwest Austin's Milwood neighborhood, Robinson Park is a little green haven spanning 12.6 acres that's managed by the North Austin Municipal Utility District #1. It offers a peaceful retreat from the urban surroundings.

One of the cool things about this park is how it connects to Rattan Creek Park through a network of walking trails, giving you plenty of space to roam. Parents will appreciate the open layout that makes keeping an eye on the kids a breeze while they're running around. The landscaping and generous tree cover create welcome patches of shade throughout - particularly valuable during those scorching Texas summers.

Play Areas

The playgrounds here have been recently renovated. For the little ones ages 2-5, there's a smaller, safer play area with toddler-appropriate equipment, including a clubhouse that seems to be a big hit with the tiny crowd.

Kids 5 and up can stretch their wings at the larger playscape with "big kid" swings, a balance beam/see-saw, and a tire swing. The set of three large dinosaur climbing statues tends to be especially popular with kids who love dinosaurs. The ground covering around the playground isn't your typical mulch, rocks, or sand, but a softer, more even surface that's kinder on little knees when falls happen.

The swings area includes two parent-child swings where adults can swing alongside their little ones.

Sports and Recreation

Feeling active? The park's soccer field offers plenty of room for both organized matches and impromptu kickarounds. There's also a volleyball court if that's more your speed.

Beyond the designated sports areas, you'll discover well-kept grassy spaces that are ideal for tossing a frisbee, setting up a casual badminton net, or just gathering for whatever game strikes your fancy. These open areas offer good space for various activities.

Amenities and Access

No need to cut your park day short - Robinson Park comes equipped with clean restroom facilities (two separate ones, actually) that remain open throughout the day. If you're planning a gathering, you'll be glad to know there's a covered pavilion that can accommodate groups of 15-20 people. You can reserve it ahead of time, making it a great spot for birthday celebrations or community get-togethers.

Around the park, you'll discover additional uncovered picnic tables for more casual outings, plus a grilling area if you're in the mood for some outdoor cooking.

Parking isn't fancy - there's no huge dedicated lot - but you'll find street parking easily enough, plus a small lot deeper in the neighborhood near the soccer fields and volleyball courts. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 10PM.

Walking Trails

The walking trails are popular among locals. They loop through the neighborhood and work well for a leisurely stroll or dog walking. These paths are well-maintained and connect to a larger trail system, so you can extend your walk if you're feeling particularly energetic.

One thing to keep in mind: during those peak summer months, the playground equipment can get seriously hot. There's limited shade directly over the play structures, so you might want to plan your visits for early morning or evening when the Texas sun isn't at its fiercest. Many local families have learned this lesson and tend to avoid midday visits during the summer heat.
