About the Location

Park Overview

Sprawling across 204 acres, Carl Barton Jr. Park stands as Conroe's largest park facility. Development began in phases back in 1999, with the park named in honor of a former Conroe mayor who served from 1979 to 1989.

What you'll notice right away is how clean and well-maintained everything is. The vast grounds offer something for everyone, whether you're planning a family day out, looking to join a pickup game, or just wanting to connect with nature for a while.

Recreational Facilities

Sports enthusiasts will find plenty of options here. The park features multiple athletic fields, including several soccer fields and baseball/softball fields that accommodate both casual weekend warriors and organized teams.

The sheer size of these facilities makes the park a natural home for tournaments throughout the year. Local sports leagues for kids and adults alike make good use of these well-kept fields across all seasons.

Beyond the fields, you'll come across basketball courts, tennis courts, and a dedicated pickleball area featuring four courts with nets. Tennis players have access to two separate courts where you can work on perfecting that backhand.

Natural Features

Need a break from all that activity? The park's fishing pond with its centerpiece fountain offers a tranquil spot to cast a line. During winter months, the pond gets stocked with trout, making it an ideal place to introduce kids to fishing.

While you're there, keep an eye out for the resident ducks and turtles that call the pond home - they're usually a hit with younger visitors.

If you're looking to log some steps or miles, approximately 3 miles of trails weave throughout the property. You can choose between paved paths circling the pond or venture into the more secluded wooded nature trails for a quieter experience.

Amenities for Visitors

The park is well-equipped for gatherings of all kinds. Picnic areas with tables are scattered throughout, and there's a covered pavilion with ample seating that's well-suited for family reunions, birthday celebrations, or just meeting up with friends. Some picnic spots include grills when you're in the mood for a proper cookout.

Kids have plenty of room to burn energy at multiple playground structures around the park. There are at least two main play areas designed with different age groups in mind, so both toddlers and older children can find appropriate equipment.

Clean restrooms are conveniently located near the sports fields and playground areas. And yes, your four-legged family members are welcome too - the park is dog-friendly as long as they stay leashed, with waste disposal bags provided along the walking paths.

With its mix of active recreation options and peaceful natural spaces, Carl Barton Jr. Park offers outdoor enjoyment for both locals and visitors to Conroe.
