A Fresh Start for the Beach

Surfside Park got a serious makeover thanks to a $6 million improvement project through the Corpus Christi Bond 2020 initiative, finally opening its gates in July 2024.

If you've been around the area before, you might remember how this spot would practically disappear during high tides. Those days are gone - the clever new design features elevated structures that keep the park usable even when the water rises.

Not Your Average Playground

Kids (and let's be honest, adults too) will get a kick out of the creative play area here. The big blue wave structures aren't just for show - they're actually climbing features with rubberized hand and foot holds that make scrambling around safe and fun.

The coastal theme continues throughout with playful diving dolphin sculptures and seashell-themed elements that remind you that yes, you're definitely at the beach.

The View Though...

One of the best things about spending time at Surfside Park is simply soaking in those panoramic bayfront views. It's the kind of place where you can just sit for a while and watch the water, maybe catch a sunset if your timing is right.

The transformation of this spot from what locals once considered an eyesore is quite impressive, fitting nicely with the ongoing development around North Beach.

Getting Around

The redesign paid special attention to accessibility, with new parking areas and pathways that make sure everyone can enjoy what the park has to offer, regardless of mobility needs.
