About Anderson Bonner Park in Dallas

Anderson Bonner Park is a 44.1-acre community park located in Dallas, Texas. Established in 1976, the park is situated along White Rock Creek, offering a green space for local residents and visitors to enjoy.

The park is named after Anderson Bonner, a prominent Texas landowner and businessman who was born into slavery around 1839. Bonner amassed over two thousand acres of land in what is now North Dallas and the Dallas suburb of Richardson. The park sits on a portion of Bonner's original property, honoring his legacy as an inspiring entrepreneur who transformed his life after slavery.

Anderson Bonner Park features a walking, running, and biking trail that runs the length of the park, following the winding course of White Rock Creek. This trail provides visitors with opportunities for exercise and nature observation.

In 2022, a historical marker and sculpture honoring Anderson Bonner were dedicated at the park, further commemorating his significance to the local community.
