Quakertown Park

Historical Significance

Quakertown Park is a 32-acre public park located in the heart of Denton, Texas. The park sits on land that was once home to a thriving African American community known as Quakertown in the early 20th century.

In the 1920s, the residents were forcibly removed and relocated to make way for the creation of the park. Educational plaques and memorials are placed throughout the park to provide visitors with information about the area's history and the former Quakertown community.

Park Features

The park features wide open green spaces, walking trails, and mature trees that provide shade. A creek runs through portions of the park.

Quakertown Park is home to several notable facilities, including the Denton Civic Center, Senior Center, and public swimming pool.

Community Events

The park hosts many of Denton's major outdoor events and festivals throughout the year, such as the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival.

Quakertown Park aims to both preserve this important piece of Denton's past while serving current residents as a recreational space.
