Since the early 1980s, talented Chicano artists have been bringing these concrete columns to life with colorful depictions of cultural icons and historical narratives that celebrate El Paso's rich Mexican-American heritage.

These artworks have made the park an important space for Chicano art and culture, drawing art enthusiasts who come to enjoy this visual collection. Though some murals occasionally show their age and need touching up, they remain the soul of this popular space - so much so that locals often affectionately refer to it as Chicano Park instead.

Roots Running Deep

The park's significance stretches beyond recreation and art. This land sits near where one of the area's first schools for Mexican-American and African-American children opened in the early 1900s. Though the original building is gone, the Lincoln Park Association now organizes events that help maintain the park's role in the community.

What to Expect

You can find the grounds generally well-kept with ample grassy areas and conveniently placed trash cans. Parking is plentiful - especially helpful when attending the popular weekend events.

Do note that bathroom options are limited to portable toilets that sometimes leave something to be desired in terms of maintenance. Dog owners will be happy to know their leashed companions are welcome to enjoy the grassy areas alongside them.
