About the Location

Park Overview

Situated in a quiet El Paso neighborhood, Paul Harvey Park spans a generous 7.7 acres of public green space. It's one of those hidden locations where you can escape the hustle and bustle without having to trek out of the city. The park features beautiful open fields and plenty of parking - so you won't have to circle around hunting for a spot when you visit.

Recreational Facilities

If you're into racket sports, you'll appreciate the four outdoor hard courts that are primarily set up for pickleball and tennis. The permanent court lines make it convenient for pickleball players - no need to guess where the boundaries are.

More of a basketball fan? There's a half basketball court where you can practice your shots or enjoy a casual game. The park also features a spacious, well-maintained grassy field that's meant for impromptu soccer matches or tossing around a football with friends.

For those days when you just want to get your steps in, a paved walking trail winds through the grounds. It's particularly popular among dog walkers, however fair warning: the trail doesn't offer much shade. That said, you can find trees scattered throughout certain areas of the park that provide welcome relief on sunny El Paso days.

Family-Friendly Amenities

The green spaces here are ideal for spreading out a blanket or setting up a picnic. Several picnic tables dot the landscape, giving you ready-made spots to enjoy your outdoor meals without balancing plates on your lap.

If you're bringing kids along, there's a playground with swings and other equipment to keep them entertained. Just know that the play structures are showing their age a bit. Parents with toddlers might find that some of the equipment isn't exactly little-one friendly - something to keep in mind if you've got really young children in tow.

Pet-Friendly Environment

Dog owners, rejoice! Paul Harvey Park is definitely dog-friendly. You'll likely encounter plenty of local pups getting their exercise here. It's refreshing to see that most pet parents are responsible about keeping their four-legged friends leashed and cleaning up afterward. The park makes this easier by providing pet waste stations with bags - always a thoughtful touch.

Views and Atmosphere

One of the unexpected bonuses of Paul Harvey Park is the gorgeous view, especially as the sun starts to set. This makes evening visits particularly special, as the sky puts on quite a show above the open fields.

Note that there are no public restrooms available in the park - something to consider if you're planning to spend several hours here. Despite this minor inconvenience, the park is a wonderful community space where El Paso residents can gather, play, exercise, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment in nature.
