About Harmon Field Park in Fort Worth

Harmon Field Park is a 97.5 acre park located in Fort Worth, Texas. The park has a rich history dating back to 1925, when the William E. Harmon Foundation of New York City provided funding to establish it as a recreational space for the city's African American population.

Originally a 5-acre parcel, the park was expanded over the decades to its current size. In the 1950s, it briefly included a golf course and recreation center for the African American community. However, portions of the land were lost to freeway construction in the late 1950s, rendering the golf course unusable.

Today, Harmon Field Park offers a variety of recreational facilities. The park features multiple natural grass soccer fields and a football field. There is also a basketball court and playground equipment for children. A bike trail runs through portions of the park.

The park provides ample parking for visitors. Its location along Martin Luther King Freeway makes it easily accessible. While no longer exclusively serving the African American community as it did historically, Harmon Field Park remains an important recreational space for the Fort Worth area.
