About the Location

A Multi-Purpose Urban Oasis

Arthur Storey Park is a 175-acre urban park located in west Houston, Texas. The park is centered around a large man-made pond and flood control reservoir, serving the dual purpose of providing recreational space and helping manage stormwater in the flood-prone Houston area.

Trail System

The park features a 3.31-mile paved trail that loops around the pond, offering opportunities for walking, jogging, and cycling. The trail provides scenic views of the water and natural areas.

While one side of the trail runs along Beltway 8 and can be noisy from traffic, the opposite side follows a section of Brays Bayou in a more tranquil setting.

Recreation Amenities

Within the park, visitors can find open grassy areas, picnic facilities, playgrounds for children, and exercise equipment stations. There is also a unique yin-yang shaped Tai Chi court.

Wildlife and Nature

The park's pond and natural areas provide habitat for various birds and wildlife, making it a good spot for birdwatching and nature observation.

Flood Control Integration

Arthur Storey Park blends recreational amenities with flood control infrastructure, exemplifying Houston's efforts to create multi-purpose green spaces in an urban environment. The park offers free admission.
