Play Ball and Chill

Spread across 26 acres, this park gives you plenty of room to breathe and play in Midland's great outdoors.

The crown jewel here is definitely the Freddie Ezell Softball Complex, where nine well-kept softball fields light up with 200-foot lights when the sun goes down. The grounds are in great shape, which is probably why Ulmer Park has become such a hotspot for softball tournaments and local leagues. If you're into softball, this is your place.

Beyond Softball

Not a softball fan? No worries. Ulmer Park has more to offer than just bases and balls. You'll come across volleyball courts for those spike-it-if-you-like-it moments, plus playgrounds complete with play sets and swings that the little ones particularly love. The playground area is fantastic for smaller children who need to burn off some energy.

When hunger strikes, head to one of the covered picnic areas where tables and grills await your family cookout. Restrooms are conveniently located near both the picnic zones and softball fields - because let's be real, that's important.

The Vibe

Located on the outskirts of a sprawling suburb, Ulmer Park offers that peaceful quiet that's sometimes hard to find. It's the kind of place where you can hear yourself think.

The layout is wonderfully spacious, giving you and the kids plenty of room to run wild. There's also a paved trail circling through the park that's fantastic for a casual bike ride or an afternoon stroll with the kiddos.

Good to Know

Just a heads up - shade is limited here, so you might want to bring a hat and sunscreen during those blazing Texas summer days. That said, the park is clean and well-maintained, especially in the main recreational areas.

Ulmer Park isn't trying to be fancy or trendy. It's simply a solid, welcoming space for family outings, walks with the kids, or getting your sports fix in a pleasant outdoor setting.
