Next to Brushy Creek, Memorial Park covers 14.11 acres, offering a quiet break from Round Rock's urban environment. The park's extensive tree canopy creates a cooler microclimate that helps during hot Texas summer days.

A 0.60-mile trail meanders alongside the creek, ideal for a quick morning jog or an evening stroll. Follow it long enough and you'll encounter the famous Round Rock itself - the massive limestone formation in Brushy Creek that gave this city its name. There's something interesting about seeing the actual rock that gave the town its name.

Recent improvements include new sidewalks, bridges, and landscaping throughout the park. If you're feeling adventurous, the trail connects to the larger Chisholm Trail system, opening up miles more of exploration possibilities.

Where History Flows

The Round Rock was more than just a landmark - it functioned as a low-water crossing for wagons, horses, and cattle during the 19th century. As part of the historic Chisholm Trail in the mid-1800s, thousands of wagons and herds of cattle crossed Brushy Creek right at this spot.

Look closely and you can actually see wagon wheel ruts etched into the soft limestone - visible even underwater when the creek is clear. These marks provide a direct link to travelers from over 150 years ago. The park also houses a World War II torpedo monument honoring the Armed Forces, adding another layer to its historical significance.

Get Moving

The park's softball field includes a concession stand for refreshments during games. There are also pickleball courts available - fantastic for trying your hand at this increasingly popular paddle sport.

The playground area has equipment suitable for children of various ages. Little ones can climb, slide, and swing to their hearts' content, with a separate area specifically designed for toddlers. Its location near the parking area makes it easier for families with young children.

Nature and Wildlife Watching

Bring your fishing rod! The creek draws plenty of fishing enthusiasts to its banks. Fly fishing seems especially popular here, with the gentle flow creating ideal conditions for casting.

Keep your eyes peeled for the various waterfowl that call this place home - geese and ducks are regular residents. If you're patient (and maybe a little lucky), you might spot majestic blue herons, elegant cranes, or even the occasional fox slipping through the underbrush. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6 AM to midnight, accommodating both early birds and night owls. And you can bring your four-legged friends too - Memorial Park is dog-friendly, although you'll need to keep them leashed on the trails and in open areas.

Community Gatherings

On some weekends, you might stumble upon the park's small but charming farmers market, where local vendors sell their products and crafts. While it's still growing its vendor base, it adds a nice community touch to weekend mornings in the park.
