About the Location
Park Overview
Located in San Antonio, Texas, Arnold Hendrich Park spans a generous 74 acres of recreational space waiting to be explored. This park sits right next to the Ramirez Community Center at 1011 Gillette Blvd, making it convenient for neighbors to visit. The community center itself is worth checking out, with loads of classes for everyone and staff who actually seem happy to help you.
Accessible Playground
The park's newest addition is its accessible playground, which opened in 2024. What makes this playground special is that families and kids helped design it - creating a space where children of all abilities can play together.
You'll discover all the playground classics here: swings, slides, and a soft AstroTurf surface that provides a cushioned landing for inevitable tumbles. The shade coverage is particularly useful during hot Texas summer days.
This playground was created through collaboration between the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department, H-E-B, and KABOOM!.
Sports Facilities
Athletes and casual players alike will appreciate the well-kept sports areas at Arnold Hendrich. The park features volleyball courts with clean sand, smooth basketball courts, and spacious baseball and soccer fields.
Many of these areas have good lighting for evening games, so your match doesn't have to end when the sun goes down. The courts and fields are well-maintained and generally free of trash.
Fitness Amenities
If you prefer outdoor exercise, there's a shaded outdoor gym area with various exercise equipment. The area is surrounded by trees, providing a pleasant environment for workouts.
The park's walking trails wind through the grounds and accommodate everyone from power walkers to families with strollers. These paths are well-maintained and ideal for when you need to clear your head or get your steps in.
Picnic and Gathering Areas
Scattered within the park, you can find plenty of picnic areas with tables and benches for outdoor meals. Many spots come equipped with BBQ grills - well-suited for impromptu cookouts or planned gatherings.
These areas are typically clean and ready to use, making them ideal for everything from birthday celebrations to quick lunch breaks away from the office.

These trails provide a peaceful escape - a place where you can focus on your thoughts or simply enjoy the scenery around you.
Amenities
The practical stuff matters too: you'll find indoor and outdoor restrooms that are generally clean and stocked with the essentials. Near the entrance, there's a thoughtful water fountain that includes a lower bowl for four-legged friends.
Evening visitors will appreciate the good lighting around the park, which helps create a safer environment after sunset. Art lovers should check out the impressive mural wrapping around the gym area - it adds a nice creative touch to your workout.
