About the Location

A Creekside Getaway in the Heart of San Antonio

Nestled along the flowing waters of Apache Creek, Cassiano Park spans a modest 2.89 acres in San Antonio, creating a green linear oasis for the surrounding community. This cherished local spot has become the backdrop for countless family gatherings, birthday celebrations, and impromptu lunch dates, offering a peaceful retreat from city life.

Get Your Game On

If you're looking to stay active, Cassiano Park offers several options. The covered basketball court lets you shoot hoops without worrying about the Texas sun beating down on you. There's also a softball field ready for your weekend games, plus plenty of open grassy areas great for frisbee, catch, or simply sprawling out with a good book.

When summer temperatures soar, the swimming pool complex is particularly popular. It features three distinct sections to suit swimmers of all ages and abilities: a main pool with depths ranging from 3 to 5 feet, an impressive 13-foot diving pool for the more adventurous, and a gentle wading pool (just 1 to 2 feet deep) where little ones can splash safely. The water quality is regularly tested, and attentive lifeguards help ensure everyone's safety.

Kids will gravitate toward the covered playground, however some parts could use a bit more shade on particularly sunny days.

Perfect for Gatherings

Cassiano Park serves well as a gathering spot with its large pavilion that's suitable for hosting everything from birthday bashes to family reunions. Within the park, you'll discover picnic areas and grilling stations that make outdoor meals a breeze - just bring your cooler and charcoal.

Thirsty? Drinking fountains are scattered within the grounds, including a thoughtful pet fountain where four-legged friends can hydrate.

A Fresh Chapter Begins

Exciting changes are coming to this neighborhood favorite. In January 2024, the park received a significant boost when San Antonio's Parks and Recreation Department secured a $1.5 million grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission for the Cassiano Park Revitalization Project, aimed at enhancing outdoor recreational opportunities.

Looking Ahead

As part of the 2022-2027 Bond Project, Cassiano Park is slated for several meaningful upgrades within the available funding. Plans include pool house renovations, a new aquatic amenity, and playground enhancements that will breathe fresh life into these well-loved spaces.

These improvements are expected to take shape between Summer 2025 and Fall 2026.

Deep Community Roots

Beyond its amenities, Cassiano Park has been part of the community for generations. For decades, locals have gathered here to celebrate milestones and everyday moments alike. The park's position along Apache Creek adds a touch of natural beauty to the urban landscape.

Good to Know

The park welcomes visitors daily from 5AM to 11PM. Restroom facilities are available, but their condition can be hit or miss depending on recent maintenance. Overall, the park is well-kept, with Park Police and trail stewards making regular rounds to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable during their visit.
