About the Location
A Natural Campus Retreat
The Bertrand F. Harrison Arboretum and Botany Pond is a small urban oasis located on the campus of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. The pond and surrounding gardens feature native plants from both eastern and western regions of the United States.
The arboretum is named after Bertrand F. Harrison, a botany professor at BYU who retired in 1974.
Landscape Features
A brick path winds through the garden, allowing visitors to observe the diverse plant life and wildlife. The pond is home to ducks and turtles, making it a popular spot for both students and local families.
Originally, the trees in the arboretum were planted to reflect the geography of the United States, with species chosen to represent different regions.
