Memorial Park
About Memorial Park
A Glimpse of History in Provo
Believe it or not, what we now know as Memorial Park was once just a swampy eyesore before the 1920s rolled around. During a nationwide push for prettier public spaces, this little patch of Provo got a serious glow-up.
Today, the park features gorgeous greenery and towering trees that have clearly been there for generations. There's something so calming about walking through a space where massive trees provide pockets of cool shade on even the hottest Utah afternoons.

Honoring Our Heroes
At the heart of Memorial Park stands a veterans' memorial that functions as a powerful reminder of those who've served our country.
Take a moment to read the touching inscriptions on the monument - they really put things in perspective. You'll also find historical markers within the park that tell the story of how this space has evolved alongside the Provo community over the decades.
Something for Everyone
While it's not the biggest park around, Memorial Park packs in plenty of recreational options. If you've got little ones under 5, they'll enjoy the small playground complete with slides and baby swings that are just their size.
Feeling like you need to move? The paved walking paths weave around and through the park, well-suited for your morning jog or an evening stroll. We've spotted plenty of people getting creative with their workouts here, and games like spikeball seem to be a favorite among the younger crowd.

Green Space Goodness
The open grassy areas are well-maintained - good for spreading out a blanket for an impromptu picnic or tossing a frisbee around. The mature trees create natural cooling zones that make even summer visits pleasant.
While you won't find pavilions or restrooms here, there are plenty of benches when you need a rest. Dog parents, take note: there are dog waste stations with bags available, but remember to keep your furry friends leashed during your visit.

Neighborhood Oasis
Spanning 6.6 acres and split by a street running through its middle, this park has a cozy, intimate feel that larger parks often lack. Tucked away in a residential area, it maintains a peaceful vibe that's perfect when you need a break from the hustle.
You'll need to find street parking if you drive, however many locals simply walk over from nearby homes - definitely one of the perks of having this lush corner embedded in the neighborhood.
The Fine Print
The Provo City Parks and Recreation Department maintains Memorial Park year-round. It's open daily from 7AM to 11PM, giving you time to enjoy this tranquil space on your own schedule.
