Location and Setting

Sandtown Park (also called Bluff Street Park) sits on 8 acres adjacent to downtown St. George, Utah. One of the first things you'll notice are the impressive views of St. George's red cliffs that form a dramatic natural backdrop to the park.

Tall shade trees create a natural border around the park's edges, offering a cool respite during those scorching Utah summer days when the sun feels particularly unforgiving.

Features and Activities

With 6.5 acres of open grassy space, there's plenty of room for various activities. The expansive fields regularly host soccer practices and weekend tournaments, with youth games typically bringing energy and excitement to Saturday mornings.

Kids gravitate toward the playground with its challenging climbing bars, rope courses, swings, and spinny seats. Just a heads-up though - the equipment tends to be better suited for older children, as those monkey bars can be a bit much for the little ones.

The large pavilion has lighting, making it suitable for gatherings that stretch into the evening hours. All year long, the park transforms for special events - the Redstone Highland Games (Scottish Festival) being a local favorite. Picture bagpipes echoing across the fields, traditional dancing, mouth-watering food trucks, and authentic Scottish games bringing a glimpse of the Highlands to Utah.

When nature calls, you'll come across recently updated restrooms with hand dryers conveniently located near the playground. The new indoor facilities are a welcome improvement over what was previously available.

Picnic tables and benches dot the landscape, with many thoughtfully placed under those magnificent shade trees. They're perfect spots to enjoy a packed lunch or simply sit back and people-watch for a while.

There's a parking lot available, however it tends to fill quickly during popular events like tournaments or the Highland Games. You might want to arrive early if you're planning to visit during these busy times.
