About Beach Park
History
Set in Alexandria, Virginia, Beach Park is a charming neighborhood green space with a story to tell. The land behind Maury School was first transformed into a park back in 1954, thanks to the efforts of the Rosemont Civic Association.
Fast forward to the early 1970s, and the park received a makeover along with a new name honoring Miss Lillian Beach, the dedicated Principal of Maury School who clearly made quite an impact on the community.
Natural Setting
Today, you can find yourself surrounded by magnificent mature oak, maple, dogwood, and locust trees that cast cooling shadows across most of the park. Just a heads-up though - the playground area doesn't get much of this natural shade during those hot summer months, so you might want to bring sunscreen!

What You'll Find
The playground here is thoughtfully designed with everyone in mind. Little ones under 5 have their own special play structure, while the bigger kids get a separate setup that's meant for more adventurous play.
The swing sets are equally inclusive, featuring baby swings for the tiniest visitors and varying heights to accommodate toddlers, older children, and yes - even grown-ups who still enjoy a good swing now and then.
If you need a spot to enjoy a sandwich or snack, there's a picnic table tucked away in the shade that's good for taking a break. Open grassy patches within the park are ideal for impromptu games of catch or simply sprawling out with a good book.
Community Spirit
The Rosemont Citizens' Association has adopted Beach Park, helping to keep it in good shape for everyone to enjoy. Local families often leave toys behind for other children to play with - a nice gesture that shows the community spirit here.
Park Personality
While not massive in size, Beach Park offers a peaceful retreat for the Rosemont neighborhood. Its natural, unfussy character makes it popular with local families.
It's slightly hidden away from the main thoroughfares, giving it that delightful hidden retreat quality that locals treasure. It's the kind of place that might not make it onto tourist maps, but is appreciated by those who discover it.
