Chinquapin Park is situated atop one of the highest points in Alexandria, Virginia. This multi-use recreational area encompasses one of the largest tracts of forested land in the city.

The park's name comes from the Chinquapin tree, a sub-species of the Chestnut family that is native to the area's forests. The open fields adjacent to the wooded areas offer additional opportunities for wildlife observation.
