About Bayville Farms Park

A Bit of History

Back in 1978, this lovely 68-acre green space came to life through a team effort between Virginia Beach City, the National Park Service, and Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation. Interestingly, the disc golf course here is one of the oldest in the world, designed by none other than "Steady Ed" himself - the actual inventor of the game - also in 1978.

What You Can Do Here

Bayville Farms Park has a little something for everyone. The disc golf course was the first of its kind in Virginia Beach and winds through wooded areas that provide both challenge and natural beauty. With multiple pads and baskets for all 18 holes, plus a practice area, you'll discover options whether you're just starting out or have been playing for years.

If you're more into traditional sports, you'll find lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, pickleball courts, and softball fields ready for your next game. There's even a small skate park where you can practice your tricks. Planning a get-together? The picnic shelters come equipped with charcoal grills and can be reserved for larger gatherings - ideal for those family reunions or birthday celebrations.

For the Dog Lovers

Your four-legged friends aren't left out at Bayville. The dog park here is thoughtfully divided into three separate fenced areas: one for the big dogs (over 30 pounds), one for the little pups (under 30 pounds), and a mixed area where all sizes can mingle and play. Most spots offer plenty of tree shade, and there are water fountains and waste bags available to make your visit easier.

Just a heads-up: you'll need to register your dog and show proof of vaccinations before using the dog park.

Nature and Family Fun

With about 2 miles of walking paths weaving through the park, you can easily enjoy a peaceful stroll or a brisk walk. The mature trees throughout provide welcome shade during those hot Virginia summers, making outdoor time pleasant even when temperatures climb.

Kids will love the well-maintained playgrounds with equipment for various age groups (though if you have a baby, swing options might be limited). Recently renovated in 2023, clean restrooms are conveniently located across the park - always a plus when spending the day outdoors.

A Few More Perks

For those looking for some casual fun, there are horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, and even cornhole games in certain areas. Got thirsty? Vending machines are available for a quick drink.

Year-round, you might catch community events or recreational programs organized by Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation happening in the park - just another way this space brings people together.
