About the Location
Scenic Overlook
Situated on a knoll overlooking Port Gardner Bay, this 2-acre neighborhood park offers visitors stunning views of the surrounding area. The park's elevated position provides an excellent vantage point for observing the city below and the waters of Puget Sound in the distance.
Rich History
The park was established in 1954 when the Rucker family donated half an acre of land to the city for public use. In the early 1900s, Wyatt and Bethel Rucker built their family residence on this hill, which became the first house in what would later be known as Rucker Heights.
Over the following decades, the area gradually developed into one of Everett's most prominent neighborhoods. The park's history is closely tied to the development of Everett itself.
Recreational Features
Today, Rucker Hill Park serves as a peaceful retreat for local residents and visitors alike. The park features well-maintained paths winding through beautifully landscaped areas, making it ideal for walking, jogging, or simply enjoying nature.
Its open green spaces are perfect for picnicking, reading, or engaging in outdoor activities. The park's natural beauty and historical significance make it a valuable asset to the Everett community, preserving both green space and a connection to the city's past.
