About the Location
Park Overview
Positioned in Kent, Washington, Eastridge Park is a cozy 4.62-acre neighborhood retreat that sits just a half block west of Morrill Meadows Park. This compact green space offers several options for family recreation.
Play Areas
The play structure here differs from the one in the neighboring park. It features three slides: a tube slide, a winding twisty slide, and a short toddler slide for younger children. Getting up to the play structure involves a couple of stairways - heads up that one of them is steeper and more ladder-like than your typical stairs.
The playground area isn't huge, but it offers swings and various climbing elements that give energetic youngsters plenty of ways to burn off steam and test their skills.
Got a little digger on your hands? The rocky sand pit comes complete with a built-in digger toy. It's a great spot to bring sand toys, buckets, and shovels for some creative earthmoving projects.
Picnic and Recreation
When hunger strikes, head to the picnic area nestled under a large shade tree. Perched on a grassy spot above a retaining wall, the single picnic table with bench seats offers a natural lookout point over the play structure. You can enjoy your lunch while keeping an eye on the playground action below.
If you're feeling sporty, the park's tennis court and basketball hoops provide options for a quick game or some practice time with friends.
Facilities and Features
The parking situation is admittedly tight with only seven spots available. Don't worry though - if the lot is full, you can find overflow parking at the Kent United Methodist Church right next door to the west.
Note that there's a drainage ditch within a few feet of the play area. While it's not particularly deep or steep, it can get pretty mucky after rain, creating swampy conditions in the surrounding areas.
The park also includes a simple grassy area that's great for running around or impromptu games of catch. This open space adds a bit of breathing room to the otherwise feature-packed neighborhood park.
Pet Information
Four-legged friends are welcome at Eastridge Park, provided they stay on leash. There's a handy doggie waste station to keep things clean. Many locals use the park as a starting point before walking the short distance to the Morrill Meadows Off-Leash Dog Park nearby - making it a great first stop on your dog's adventure day.
