Uplands Playfield

What's Here Now

Tucked away near the busy intersection of West Smith Street and Highway 167, Uplands Playfield offers 2.3 acres of green space just east of the highway and south of the Maleng Regional Justice Center.

Currently, this modest park is home to baseball and softball fields that have been part of the community landscape for years. These fields are kept in good shape thanks to a full irrigation system that helps maintain the playing surfaces throughout the seasons.

Getting There

One of the nice things about Uplands is that it sits right alongside the Interurban Trail, which runs along the eastern edge of the park. If you're out for a walk or bike ride, you can stop for a drink at the trail-side fountain.

There's no dedicated parking lot at the park itself, but its downtown location means you can easily reach it by bus, on foot, or by bicycle. The connection to the Interurban Trail makes it particularly convenient if you're exploring Kent car-free.

What's Coming Soon

If you're a fan of the current ball fields, you might want to visit soon. As of 2024, the City of Kent has plans to completely reimagine this space. The existing fields will be removed to make way for some exciting new features.

The upcoming renovation will bring Kent's first spray park to this location, along with a new children's play area. These changes aim to transform Uplands into a more versatile community space that appeals to a wider range of visitors and recreational interests.
