About the Location

A Touch of China in Kent

Located in downtown Kent, Yangzhou Park is a peaceful little green haven with a story to tell. Since 1993, it's represented Kent's sister city relationship with Yangzhou, China.

Back in the day, the two cities exchanged garden pavilions to celebrate their connection. Kent was gifted its pavilion in the year 1995.

Eastern Aesthetics Meet the Pacific Northwest

Walk through the park and you'll notice something different about this space. The design pulls inspiration from traditional Chinese gardens, blending Eastern influences with the familiar Northwest landscape. There's a certain calm that comes from the thoughtfully arranged decorative Chinese elements within the grounds.

You'll discover yourself wandering among ornamental plants, resting in the shade of carefully placed trees, and enjoying the gentle presence of water features that echo the tranquil gardens found halfway across the world.

Right in the Heart of Kent

One of the best things about Yangzhou Park is just how easy it is to find. Sitting along Railroad Avenue N in downtown Kent, you can easily pair a visit here with stops at nearby shops or restaurants.

It's a quiet break from the urban bustle, however it's worth noting that trains pass nearby - their rumble a reminder of the active city that surrounds this peaceful spot.

Where Community Connects

More than just a pretty place, this park represents a gathering ground for the people of Kent. The space hosts community gatherings and cultural events, especially those celebrating the Kent-Yangzhou relationship.

If you're interested in experiencing a bit of Chinese garden tradition or simply looking for a place to relax, the open grassy areas provide room to spread out and unwind. Just keep in mind that the train noise might make this less ideal for quiet picnics or intimate conversations.

Yangzhou Park might be small, but it offers a nice reminder of Kent's international connection with its Chinese sister city.
