Where to Find It

Found in Seattle's vibrant University District, University Playground sits at the corner of 9th Ave NE and NE 50th St. Just a stone's throw from the University of Washington campus, this little green haven is perfectly positioned for students, neighbors, and visitors to enjoy. Gates are open daily from 6AM to 10PM, giving you plenty of time to squeeze in some outdoor fun before or after your daily commitments.

What to Do

This community spot offers a casual recreation space with options for different interests. There's a generous open grassy area that's excellent for tossing a frisbee, spreading out a picnic blanket, or just lounging with a good book on a sunny Seattle day (yes, they do happen!).

If you're feeling sporty, check out the baseball field or hit the tennis courts - though you might occasionally need to sweep away some leaves or debris before your match. Ballers can enjoy the basketball court, while fitness enthusiasts can get their heart rate up using the outdoor fitness equipment.

For the Little Ones

The playground isn't enormous, but it offers the classics kids love: swings, slides, and climbing structures. Nothing fancy, but definitely functional and fun. If you have younger children who might be overwhelmed by crowds, mornings tend to be particularly quiet here - an ideal time for the shy or more sensitive kiddos to play without the hustle and bustle.

Comfort Features

Throughout the park, you'll find several picnic tables and benches - ideal spots to enjoy a coffee from a nearby café or to relax while watching the action. There are water fountains available too, however they're sometimes turned off during colder months or maintenance periods.

Need a restroom? Facilities are available, but be aware they occasionally close for cleaning or repairs.

Bringing Your Pup

While there's no fenced dog area, the spacious open field provides a decent spot for your four-legged friend to stretch their legs. If your dog has reliable recall skills, they'll particularly enjoy the open space - just remember to keep them leashed when required by city rules.
