About the Location

Park Overview

Greenacres Park is an 8.3-acre public recreational space located in eastern Spokane Valley, Washington, adjacent to Riverbend Elementary School. Constructed in 2012, it holds the distinction of being Spokane Valley's first new park after the city's incorporation in 2003.

The park was developed on land purchased in 2007 for $497,820, with half of the funding provided by a grant from the Washington Interagency Committee (now known as the Recreation and Conservation Office).

Amenities and Features

The initial phase of the park, completed in 2012 at a cost of $1.4 million, included a farm-themed playground area, splash pad, informal amphitheater, and a 40'x60' shelter with a stage.

The park also features multi-use fields, walking paths, and a disc golf course, catering to a variety of recreational interests.

Art and Culture

In 2023, the park received an art installation called "Huckleberry Daze", created by artist Jerry McKeller and donated by the Spokane Valley Arts Council. This addition contributes to the park's aesthetic appeal and cultural significance.

Future Developments

As of 2025, Greenacres Park is undergoing a significant expansion. The Phase II improvements, scheduled to begin in mid-March 2025 with an expected completion by mid-July, will introduce several new features to enhance the park's offerings.

The $2 million project, largely funded by state and federal grants, aims to diversify the park's amenities and improve its accessibility for the community.
