History and Background

Verlo Playfield, formerly known as McKinley Playfield, is a 5.6-acre park located in Tacoma, Washington. This neighborhood park serves as a recreational hub for the local community.

The park was renamed from McKinley Playfield to Verlo Playfield on March 31, 2014, by the Board of Park Commissioners. This change was made to reduce confusion with the nearby McKinley Park and to honor Ben and Reba Verlo, who were known for their significant contributions to children's programs in the community.

The park features a variety of recreational amenities catering to different age groups and interests. It includes sports facilities such as a basketball court and a tennis court, offering opportunities for athletic activities.
