About Homestead Park
Park Overview
Situated in east Vancouver, Washington, Homestead Park spans a cozy 6.2 acres, representing a green haven for the Cascade East and Cascade Highlands neighborhoods.
This intimate space offers locals a peaceful escape where you can breathe in some fresh air while enjoying simple outdoor activities. The trees scattered throughout create that perfect balance of sunshine and shade, making for a quiet, well-kept space that never feels overwhelming.
Amenities and Features
At the heart of the park lies a generous open lawn - ideal for throwing down a blanket for an impromptu picnic or tossing a frisbee around. If you're planning something more organized, you'll discover barbecues and picnic tables nestled in the shaded areas near the road.
Kids will make a beeline for the playground with its climbing structures and swings (including one for the littlest visitors). Parents of toddlers will appreciate the separate play area designed specifically with tiny adventurers in mind. While not the biggest playground you'll ever see, it does a nice job of keeping children of various ages entertained.
Note that there are no public restrooms here, so plan accordingly.
ADTaste of Hawthorne Food and Backyard Urban Farm Tour
The Taste of Hawthorne walking food and farm tour is designed for foodies by foodies. You’ll experience one of Portland's most eclectic and historic neighborhoods, just 10 minutes from downtown, and taste your way around the world right here in Portland from lunch to late-night bites and specialty sips.
Recreation Opportunities
Wrapping around the park is a paved walking path creating a 0.35-mile loop - just right for a quick stroll or for walking the dog. If you're looking to add some variety to your exercise routine, check out the exercise stations dotted along the path.
Four-legged friends are welcome, with waste bags and trash cans conveniently placed throughout (just remember to keep them leashed). When winter brings snow, the gentle slopes transform into modest sledding hills that locals take advantage of.
Accessibility and Parking
You won't find a dedicated parking lot here, but free street parking is readily available on surrounding roads. The paved pathways make navigating most of the park relatively easy, but the unpaved sections through the green spaces can be a bit less maintained.
