About Orchards Community Park
Natural Oasis in the City
Tucked away in a residential area of Vancouver, Orchards Community Park spans about 13 acres of refreshing greenery in the heart of the neighborhood. This park blends open spaces with wooded sections, creating a natural retreat that feels surprisingly removed from city life (even if you can still catch the occasional traffic sounds from nearby roads).
The park's mature trees provide welcome shade on hot summer days, making the temperature feel several degrees cooler. It's a natural respite when the heat builds up.
Walking trails crisscross throughout the entire park, giving you plenty of options for your outdoor adventure. Some paths are nicely paved (perfect if you're pushing a stroller or cruising on a bike), while others are natural dirt trails that wind through the more woodsy areas. The interconnected network means you can take a different route each time you visit.
Play and Sport Options
If you've got kids in tow, the playground area is likely where you'll spend most of your time. The park thoughtfully provides two separate play zones - a gentler one for the little ones and a more challenging setup with climbing equipment for older children. While the playground isn't slide-heavy, it offers plenty of opportunities for active play and imagination.
Next to the playground stretches a generous grassy field that's excellent for impromptu games of tag, tossing a frisbee, or simply sprawling out on a blanket with a good book.
Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the basketball courts for pickup games and the baseball field that hosts both organized league play and casual weekend warriors. In an interesting twist, the park also features an RC track in the back section where remote-control vehicle hobbyists can put their cars and trucks through their paces on either the short course or small oval track.
Picnic Paradise
Come mealtime, you've got options scattered across the grounds. Picnic tables and benches are sprinkled around the park, making it easy to find a spot for lunch or an early dinner.
Planning something bigger? The covered pavilion offers shelter for larger gatherings, complete with barbecue grills and charcoal disposal pits - a thoughtful touch that makes cleanup easier. You'll discover additional tables near the playground (perfect for keeping an eye on the kids while you enjoy your sandwich).
For a bit of friendly competition after your meal, check out the horseshoe pits near the pavilion area.
Good to Know
Orchards Community Park welcomes visitors daily from 7AM to 9PM. Restroom facilities are available during the season, however they might occasionally close for maintenance. Not to worry - portable toilets typically appear during these times.
The park is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend along (just remember to keep them leashed). The trails and open areas provide plenty of space for your pup to get some exercise.
Finding the park is straightforward with on-site parking available, making it accessible whether you live around the corner or you're visiting from elsewhere in Vancouver.

ADCannon Beach Hiking Tour on the Oregon Coast
The Oregon Coast is an experience like no other and our guides have selected a quieter, slower approach to the day: a visit to Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach; hikes through old-growth forests to views beyond what the common tourist sees; up-close encounters with the iconic monoliths that make the Oregon Coast so unusual; a lunch stop in a sweet beach town; recommendations for our favorite cinnamon rolls, pie or ice cream; sand (if you want it) between your toes. Day tours can feel long but ours feels more like a just-right exploration with plenty of time to sit however you like with the majesty of the ocean -- or spend most of your time wandering in the forest as you listen to waves crash beneath you.
