This valuable green space in the community provides opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and connection with nature in an urban setting.
Recent Improvements
The park features a nature play area, which was completed in summer 2024 as part of the park's recent improvements. This play area provides an engaging and fun environment for children, incorporating elements that reflect the local ecosystem.
Oakbrook Park is undergoing a phased renovation process to enhance its facilities and accessibility.
New Playground
The first phase of improvements includes the addition of a new playground with a wetlands theme, designed to be inclusive and accessible for people of all ages and abilities.
The playground incorporates features such as a 7-foot accessible play hill with a large slide, rock scramble, climbing handholds, and an accessible ramp.
Additional Amenities
The park's renovation plans also include the addition of four pickleball courts, which will be positioned to minimize noise impact on surrounding areas. A berm and trees will be added near the courts to act as a buffer and provide shade.
For visitors' convenience, a Portland Loo restroom facility is being installed near the new playground. This single-stall restroom is designed to be durable, low-maintenance, and resistant to vandalism.
