Park Overview

Located on Madison's east side near East High School, Demetral Park sprawls across 49.18 acres of green space that comes with quite the backstory. Once a sanitary landfill, this land has undergone quite the transformation into the community hub it is today. It's quite a transformation. The park has been providing recreational space to Madison residents for several decades now.

Facilities

The park offers a reservable open-air shelter complete with restrooms, drinking water, and about 20 picnic tables scattered in and around the area. Perfect for those summer cookouts or family reunions.

Dog owners will appreciate One of the park's standout features is its fenced-in dog exercise area where four-legged friends can run free without a leash. Just be prepared to share the space - this spot can get pretty popular, especially on those perfect Wisconsin afternoons.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the well-maintained softball fields - and yes, they're lighted for those evening games. The fields regularly host local kickball leagues, making this a go-to destination for adult recreational sports in Madison.

Park Policies

Heads up: alcohol is a no-go in the shelter area and within fifty feet surrounding it, unless you've got a permit with prior approval from the Parks Division. This helps keep the central area family-friendly for everyone to enjoy.

The park welcomes early birds and night owls alike with daily hours from 4AM to 10PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy all that Demetral has to offer, whether you're catching a sunrise or squeezing in an evening game after work.
