Duane F. Bowman Park

Play Ball! Sports Facilities

Duane F. Bowman Park focuses on diamond sports, featuring three softball/youth ball diamonds and one baseball diamond on Madison's west side - plenty of room whether you're part of an organized league or just looking to play catch with friends on a sunny afternoon.

Throughout the season, these fields come alive with youth and adult leagues. The crack of the bat and cheers from spectators create that classic American summer soundtrack that makes this park special.

Field Features

One thing to note about the softball fields - they have sandy batters boxes, which adds a unique dimension to your game. It's a bit different from what you might find at other Madison parks, and while some players find it challenging, others appreciate the distinctive playing experience.

If you're planning to play here, consider your footwear choices carefully. The right cleats can make all the difference when you're digging in at the plate on these sandy surfaces.

Getting There

You'll find this location about 2 miles from the Capitol Square on Fish Hatchery Road - making it easy to reach whether you're a local or just visiting Madison. The convenient location means you can easily fit in a game or practice without venturing too far from the city center.

The park sits right next to a school, creating a natural partnership for school sports activities. While primarily focused on baseball and softball, the park includes the basic amenities you'd expect for a comfortable visit.
