Portland Park

Location and Layout

Positioned on Madison's east side, Portland Park is a 3-acre green space in the neighborhood. This pocket-sized park might not be massive, but it offers just enough room for locals to stretch their legs and enjoy some fresh air.

With a pleasant mix of open grassy areas and mature trees, you can choose between soaking up some sun or chilling in the shade, depending on your mood. The park's main attraction is a basketball court with a single hoop - nothing fancy, but it gets the job done for a quick game or some solo practice.

History and Future Plans

Established in the mid-20th century, this little park has evolved bit by bit over the decades.

There's good news for frequent visitors - in 2020, the City of Madison Parks Division created a master plan to give Portland Park some much-needed TLC. The most exciting update? The playground equipment is set for replacement in 2025, which will finally give the little ones some updated options for play.
