A Bit of History

Back in the early 1900s, this spot was simply known as Milwaukee River Dam Park (not the most creative name). The park sits where the North Avenue Dam once controlled the river's flow. In 1929, the city's parks department took over and renamed it after Caesar Paikowski, a local resident who must have made quite an impression on the neighborhood.

Getting Active

If you're looking to connect with the water, you can find a staircase that leads right down to the river's edge. The park functions as a gateway to the Milwaukee River Greenway and links up with the East Bank Trail, making it perfect if you want to walk, jog, or cycle along the water.

Fishing enthusiasts often claim their spots along the riverbank here too, patiently waiting for their next catch.

Nature Reclaiming Space

The park underwent a significant transformation in 1997 when the North Avenue Dam came down and was replaced with a pedestrian bridge. This change wasn't just aesthetic - it helped return the river to its more natural state. Today, Caesar's Park is a quiet natural retreat where you can connect with the outdoors without leaving the city.
