About the Location
Natural Features
Found in the northern part of Milwaukee along Servite Drive, this 20.2-acre preserve offers a peaceful escape from the city buzz without having to venture far from home.
The preserve welcomes you with its woods and hiking trails, excellent for connecting with nature at your own pace. There's a short loop trail that takes only about 15 minutes to complete, passing through a sunny prairie section that's particularly lovely on clear days.
Unlike the neatly trimmed city parks you might be used to, Servite maintains a wilder, more natural appearance. This untamed quality is exactly what makes it special - you might even catch glimpses of deer wandering through the trees if you're quiet enough.
Activities
Whether you're in the mood for a casual stroll or something more active, Servite offers various options. The trails are great for walking, jogging, and bike riding, and you'll often see locals getting their daily exercise here.
Dog owners, rejoice! The preserve is dog-friendly, making it a popular spot for neighborhood pups and their humans to stretch their legs. The paved sections also attract some skateboarding enthusiasts, adding to the diverse ways people enjoy this versatile green space.
Conservation and Management
Servite Park Preserve is one piece of the larger Milwaukee County Parks system, which looks after more than 15,000 acres of parkland throughout the county. This preserve plays an important role in maintaining green spaces and supporting biodiversity within Milwaukee's urban landscape.
For residents of the Servite Woods neighborhood and visitors alike, the preserve is a valuable ecological area and an accessible way to experience nature without leaving the city limits. It's a nice example of natural space preserved within city limits.
