Reed Park
About Reed Park
Skate Park Features
If you're into skateboarding, you'll love the two distinct bowls at Reed Park's skate area. The first is a compact capsule with a spine running through the middle - perfect if you're working on those technical tricks and want a tighter space to practice.
The second bowl is more generous, ranging from 5 to 6 feet in depth. BMX riders particularly gravitate toward this one thanks to its spacious flatbottom, giving you plenty of room to build momentum before taking flight.
Park Overview
Spread across about 25,000 square feet, Reed Park is a neighborhood space spreading across about 25,000 square feet. It's conveniently located along Broadway Road, making it easy to pop in for some fresh air and recreation, no matter your age.
The grounds feature nicely kept lawns and thoughtfully designed landscaping that offers a bit of tranquility away from the usual hustle. You'll find plenty of places to sit and several shaded spots - ideal if you just want to relax or meet up with friends.
Recreational Amenities
Beyond the skate park, Reed offers a variety of ways to enjoy your time outdoors. The playground comes equipped with structures for kids of different ages, including swings, slides, and climbing equipment, all with safety surfaces underneath.
If you're more sports-minded, the basketball courts might be calling your name. There are also walking paths winding through the park. What's nice about Reed is how it balances spaces for active recreation with quieter areas for more relaxed activities.
Facilities
You'll come across restrooms available in the park, but they're fairly basic and sometimes maintenance can be hit or miss, according to some regular visitors.
On the plus side, the park offers several shaded areas and shelters that provide welcome relief from that intense Arizona sun. These covered spaces make for great spots to enjoy a picnic or small get-together, even during the warmer months.
Upcoming Improvements
Heads up - Reed Park is getting a makeover as part of a city project running from Spring 2025 to Fall 2025. The plans include sprucing up the playground and adding more shade structures.
These upgrades will replace some of the older equipment while creating more functional spaces around the park for community enjoyment.
