McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
About McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
All Aboard for Family Fun
Set in the heart of Scottsdale, Arizona, the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park spreads across 30 acres of train-lover's paradise. This isn't your average park - it's a railway-themed space operated by the city's Parks & Recreation Department that appeals to both the young and young-at-heart. The best part? Walking through the gates won't cost you a penny.
At the heart of the experience sits the Paradise & Pacific Railroad, a charming 5/12ths scale reproduction of a Colorado narrow gauge railroad. For just $3 (with kiddos under 2 riding free), you can hop aboard for a mile-long journey that loops around the park. It's a great way to get your bearings and soak in the sights before exploring on foot.

Miniature Marvels
The park features a 10,000-square-foot model railroad building with multiple displays. Inside, you'll find multiple model railroad displays of various gauges that are quite detailed. What makes this space special are the interactive elements - push buttons let you control the trains yourself, bringing the miniature worlds to life.
The thoughtful design ensures everyone gets a good view, including children and visitors using wheelchairs. The miniature cities and track systems (some even running along the ceiling!) show impressive craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Step Back in Time
History buffs will appreciate the park's collection of genuine railroad artifacts, including the Roald Amundsen Pullman Car that once carried four U.S. presidents - from Herbert Hoover to Dwight D. Eisenhower. You can explore this piece of American history along with other fascinating exhibits at the Scottsdale Railroad Museum within the park grounds.
Don't be surprised if knowledgeable staff members approach to share interesting train facts and stories. Their passion for railroad history adds an educational dimension to your visit.

Kid-Friendly Corners
Little ones have plenty of space to burn energy at multiple playgrounds around the park. Near the entrance, you'll come across a railway-themed play area, while further along the tracks stands an iconic Western Town playground where imagination runs wild.
The park recently unveiled a new playground featuring cushioned surfaces and equipment suitable for various age groups. Many play areas offer shade canopies - a thoughtful touch during those sunny Arizona days. If you're planning a future visit, note that a splash pad is under construction and scheduled to open in summer 2025.

More to Enjoy
Take a spin on the historic carousel from the 1950s for just $3 per ride. When hunger strikes, head to the small general store and ice cream shop for refreshments and train-themed souvenirs that won't break the bank.
The grounds feature numerous shaded picnic areas with tables, open grassy spaces, and BBQ grills - great for family gatherings or birthday celebrations. Clean restrooms are conveniently located throughout the park.

Ticket Information
While the park itself is free to enter, some attractions require tickets. Both the train ride and carousel cost $3 per person (children under 2 ride free). If you're planning to ride multiple times, consider the value options: 8 tickets for $20 or all-day wristbands for $12.
