Kanis Park

Kanis Park is a 46-acre community park located on S. Rodney Parham Rd. in Little Rock, Arkansas. The park occupies level to gently-sloping land along Rock Creek in the western part of the city. It was acquired from the E.D. Kanis family in 1968 and underwent extensive development in 1969 and 1979.

The park features a variety of recreational facilities and natural areas. A bike path, which is part of the city's bike path system, was extended through the park in 1979, enhancing its accessibility and recreational value. In 2020, six pickleball courts were added to the park, expanding its offerings for sports enthusiasts.

Kanis Park is known for its diverse amenities catering to different interests and age groups. It includes sports facilities, playground areas, and natural spaces for outdoor activities. The park also incorporates elements of urban infrastructure, such as a skate park, which has become a popular attraction for skateboarding enthusiasts.

The City of Little Rock has invested in improving Kanis Park's facilities. In recent years, there have been plans for significant enhancements, including the rebuilding of popular basketball courts under I-630 (which were removed during I-630 expansion) and the construction of a 14-foot wide trail from the southwest corner of Rodney Parham Rd. and Mississippi St. into the park entrance.

Kanis Park serves as an important green space in Little Rock, offering residents and visitors opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and community gatherings. Its mix of developed facilities and natural areas makes it a versatile public space that caters to a wide range of outdoor activities and interests.
