A Piece of Aviation History

Tucked away in Costa Mesa is a little green space with a big name. Lindbergh Park got its moniker from Lindbergh School, built in 1931 and named after Charles Lindbergh - you know, the daring pilot who conquered the Atlantic back in 1927. What's kind of charming is that local schoolchildren actually got to vote on the school's name, and they chose Lindbergh, who was basically the celebrity superhero of his day.

What You'll Find There

At just 1 acre, this park isn't going to overwhelm you with its size, but it makes good use of its modest footprint. There's a nice grassy area that acts as a flexible space for whatever outdoor activity strikes your fancy.

If you have little ones, you'll appreciate the playground that's particularly well-designed for toddlers. Need a snack break? The picnic tables sit under the dappled shade of trees, ideal for a casual lunch or just taking a moment to relax.

Here's something unexpected - there's actually a huge municipal water tank buried right under the field. Stand close to the vent structures and you can hear some pretty cool echoing sounds from below. It's like the park has its own secret underground chamber!

Things to Do

The open field doesn't sit idle - it regularly hosts youth soccer practices and games for the AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization). It's also a nice spot to bring your four-legged friend for some exercise and fresh air.

Just a heads-up: there aren't any restrooms at Lindbergh Park, so plan accordingly. Given its small size and straightforward amenities, it's really more of a local favorite that's excellent for quick visits rather than all-day excursions.
