About Craig Regional Park

Park Overview

Found in Fullerton, Craig Regional Park unfolds across 124 acres of rolling hills, mature trees, and open spaces that invite you to explore. Since its completion in 1974, the park features about 95 acres of turfed areas sheltered by a diverse canopy of trees. Just a heads up - there's an entrance fee of $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends ($7 on holidays) for vehicles, but you can always slip in for free if you're on foot or pedaling a bike.

Natural Features

At the heart of the park sits a charming 3-acre lake that functions as its natural centerpiece. The water draws in a cast of wildlife characters - ducks waddling along the shore, geese honking their presence, and elegant herons standing in quiet contemplation - making it a prime spot for bird watching. Three year-round creeks wind their way through the grounds, adding their gentle sounds to the park's peaceful atmosphere.

With a California Fish and Game License, you can fish for catfish and bluegill in the lake.

Recreation Facilities

Kids have plenty of room to burn energy with three separate play areas scattered throughout the park. Each playground features sand surfaces and all the classics - swings, seesaws, and climbing structures - designed for children of different ages and abilities.

For those looking to get their steps in, the park's walking and biking trails meander through picturesque scenery. The 2.5-mile walking path includes some hills that provide a good workout - a more scenic alternative to the treadmill.

Sports lovers aren't left out either. The park houses softball fields, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and volleyball courts. You'll also find handball courts and plenty of open grassy areas great for frisbee, catch, or just sprawling out with a good book.

Picnic Areas

Picnicking might just be the unofficial favorite activity at Craig Regional Park. You can find numerous tables and barbecues dotted throughout, with several picnic shelters and gazebos available to reserve ahead of time (or claim early if you're the spontaneous type). These spots are great for family reunions, birthday celebrations, or just gathering the crew for some outdoor dining. Most areas are well-maintained with trash bins nearby and convenient access to restrooms.

Special Features

For a touch of cultivated beauty amid the natural surroundings, wander through the park's rose garden where colors and fragrances change with the seasons. The nature center, open on weekends, offers a deeper dive into the local ecosystem for curious minds.

Your four-legged friends are welcome too - Craig Regional Park is dog-friendly, however pups need to stay leashed. You'll find waste stations with bags along the walking paths, so there's no excuse not to clean up.

Amenities

Practical needs aren't forgotten, with clean, stocked restroom facilities and drinking fountains positioned across the grounds.

It's worth noting that the park bears the name of Ted Craig, a dedicated public servant who left his mark on Orange County after being elected to the Brea City Council back in 1928.
