About Rolling Hills Park

Park Overview

Located on E Bastanchury Road in Fullerton, California, Rolling Hills Park is a 9.46-acre green space with terrain that matches its name. Established in 1979, this park's gently undulating landscape creates a refreshing escape from the flatness of urban life. The hills don't just give the park its name - they give it character, turning a simple stroll into a mini-adventure. It's clean, well-maintained, and has a comfortable neighborhood atmosphere.

Playground Paradise

Kids' eyes light up when they see the playground here. The main structure is well-suited for the 5-12 crowd, with plenty of climbing opportunities and - the true stars of the show - a long tunnel slide and a winding bendy slide that follow the natural contour of the hillside.

Little ones aren't forgotten either, with a separate play area designed specifically for the 2-5 age group, complete with appropriately sized slides and tunnels. The wood chip surface provides a soft landing for inevitable tumbles, and shade sails offer some protection from the California sun, however not every piece of equipment gets this cooling benefit. Recently renovated and conveniently close to the restrooms, this playground strikes that perfect balance between fun and practicality.

Fresh Additions

Between 2018 and 2021, Rolling Hills Park got a bit of a makeover. Along with the new playground equipment, they added a fitness course that loops around the park. This series of workout stations targets different muscle groups, meaning you can get in some exercise while the kids play - multitasking at its finest!

Picnic Possibilities

Scattered across the hills are peaceful picnic spots with three concrete picnic tables where you can enjoy lunch with a view. If you're planning an extended stay on a sunny day, bringing your own shade canopy isn't a bad idea. For those who prefer their food with a hint of smoke, barbecue grills are available for your grilling pleasure.

One of the park's best features is its abundant tree cover, creating natural shade that makes even hot afternoons bearable. The shade from these trees makes for pleasant seating areas surrounded by greenery.

Recreation Options

If you're into disc golf, you're in luck! The park houses a 9-hole disc golf course complete with grass tees and DISCatcher Pro targets. Added in 2021, this course has quickly become a favorite among locals looking for a casual round.

Beyond organized sports, there are plenty of open grassy areas great for impromptu games of catch, kite flying, or simply letting the kids run wild and burn off some energy.

Practical Matters

A newer parking lot off Bastanchury Road offers 16 regular spaces and 2 accessible spots - plenty for weekday visits, but you might need to arrive early on busy weekends to snag a spot.

The restroom facilities are clean and well-maintained (always a plus for a public park), and include changing stations for families with infants. There's even a water bottle refill station to keep you hydrated during your visit.

Dog parents, rejoice! The park is dog-friendly, but your furry friends need to stay leashed at all times.

Beyond the Boundaries

At the back west end of the park, a set of stairs leads you to even more recreation options - a baseball diamond and basketball courts that are technically part of the adjacent Rolling Hills School Park. The two parks flow together so seamlessly you might not even notice you've crossed from one to the other.

The park also sits below Mountain View Park, creating a network of green spaces that you can explore in a single outing if you're feeling particularly adventurous.
