About the Location
Historic Significance
Established in 1922, Hillcrest Park spans 37.8 acres and holds the distinction of being the oldest park in Fullerton. The park is situated north of Downtown Fullerton and Fullerton College, bounded by Brea Boulevard, Harbor Boulevard, Valley View Drive, and Lemon Street.
One of its most notable features is a large historic fountain, constructed by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s. This fountain, which had been inoperable since the 1970s, was restored to working condition in 2018 as part of a major renovation project.
Landscape and Views
The park's landscape features hilly terrain, offering visitors scenic views to the west and south from its highest points. Lush greenery, towering trees, and flower gardens create a serene atmosphere for visitors seeking a peaceful retreat from urban life.
For nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, Hillcrest Park offers a network of walking trails. These include both paved paths and dirt trails, providing options for leisurely strolls or more challenging hikes.

Recent Improvements
Hillcrest Park underwent significant improvements in recent years. In 2017, the "Hillcrest Stairs" were added, connecting Lions Field to the main park area.
These timber stairs, seven feet wide, provide a challenging workout for fitness enthusiasts and feature viewing decks along the way. The 2018 renovation also included improvements to the Great Lawn in front of the fountain and the addition of a bridge across Brea Creek.
Community Hub
The park serves as a hub for community events and gatherings. It's a popular venue for outdoor weddings, family reunions, and community festivals.
The park also pays tribute to military personnel, featuring war memorials dedicated to Fullerton residents who served in major conflicts.
