Lemon Park
About Lemon Park
A Bit of History
Tucked away in Fullerton since 1946, this charming 5.09-acre green space bears the name of John Francis "Pep" Lemon, who dedicated nearly three decades of his life as the city's park superintendent.
What You'll Find Here
Lemon Park has a spacious picnic area and athletic fields, good for family gatherings or friend meetups. At the heart of the park sits the Maple Neighborhood Center, a community hub that hosts various activities throughout the year.
If you're visiting during summer, don't miss the splash pad - a summer savior that runs daily from June through mid-August, then weekends until late September. Picture a circular water playground about 40-50 feet across, where 10-15 fountains shoot refreshing streams skyward. It's a wonderful cool-down spot when the California sun is doing its thing.
Play Areas & Sports Options
The playground here is a hit with kids. With swinging monkey bars, an exciting zip line, and a classic fireman's pole, there's no shortage of adventures to be had. The thoughtful design includes soft rubber flooring in certain sections and separate areas for different age groups, so both toddlers and older children can play safely.
Sports fans aren't left out either. The park houses baseball/softball fields and basketball courts for those friendly competitive matches. There's even a modest fitness area equipped with elliptical machines where adults can squeeze in a workout while the kids play.
Places to Relax and Picnic
Picnic tables are scattered around the grounds, with some strategically placed near the splash pad - great for keeping an eye on splashing children while enjoying a sandwich. The park's gazebo offers a shaded retreat for when you need a break from the sun.
One of the park's best features has to be its mature trees, creating natural canopies that keep the area surprisingly cool even during hot afternoons.
Practical Stuff
You'll discover parking and restrooms available for convenience, but fair warning: the lot tends to fill up quickly during busy times, especially on weekends and during summer months.
The design preserves open spaces and existing trees, balancing developed amenities with natural beauty.
Recent updates have improved the parking lot flow and modified an offsite median, making the park more accessible for everyone.
