Apache Mesa Park

Places to Play

Apache Mesa Park packs a surprising amount of fun into its 3-acre footprint in a residential neighborhood. Though it might sound small on paper, this green space feels remarkably roomy once you're there, with a sprawling grassy area that's excellent for tossing a frisbee or setting up your family reunion games.

Kid-Friendly Zones

Got little ones with energy to burn? The park features two different-sized playgrounds with equipment that caters to various age groups. Toddlers aren't left out either - there are tot swings just for them. Parents will appreciate that these play areas are typically well-kept and clean, making them a reliable spot for an afternoon of climbing, sliding, and imaginary adventures.

Picnic Paradise

When hunger strikes, you won't have to leave. Apache Mesa offers several picnic tables scattered throughout the grounds - though you might want to bring along a tablecloth for some of them. Planning a cookout? The park's public grills have you covered, making this a go-to spot for everything from casual family lunches to church gatherings and neighborhood meet-ups.

Practical Stuff

Yes, there are restrooms available (though they might occasionally be closed for maintenance). The City of Aurora Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department keeps an eye on everything, ensuring the park stays in good shape for everyone to enjoy. They even provide trash bags for events, which is a thoughtful touch if you're organizing something larger.

The Vibe

What really sets Apache Mesa apart is its relaxed atmosphere. You won't find overwhelming crowds here - just a peaceful pocket of nature that feels like a little retreat from the bustle of everyday life. It's the kind of place where neighbors chat while their kids play, and nobody seems in a rush to leave. Keep in mind that there's no dedicated lot, so you'll need to find street parking nearby.
