About Bellows Park
A Natural Oasis
Right next to Lakewood Gulch for about half a mile, Bellows Park carves out a refreshing strip of greenery within the city landscape. At 10.6 acres, this linear park offers a quiet escape from the urban bustle that surrounds it.
What we love about this space is how it represents a natural buffer within the neighborhood - it's like finding a peaceful pocket of calm in the midst of city life. The park's position along Lakewood Gulch isn't just pretty; it actually helps preserve the local ecosystem and creates homes for various plants and wildlife that might otherwise struggle in an urban setting.
What You'll Find Here
A smooth, paved trail meanders alongside the gulch, fantastic for your morning jog, afternoon walk, or casual bike ride. As you travel the path, you'll notice residential homes dotting the hillside on one side, while industrial buildings and Terumo BCT property border portions of the other.
One standout feature is the science-themed picnic shelter complete with a grill - adding a touch of educational fun to your outdoor meal. The pavilion sits near a soothing waterfall, creating that perfect background soundtrack for your picnic or small gathering.
Don't miss the whimsical metal sculptures that pop up along the trail, adding artistic flair and conversation pieces to your walk. There's also a small garden area that brings additional color and natural beauty to the park experience.
ADPrivate Hike Emerald Lake In Rocky Mountain National Park
Hiking to Emerald Lake This hike features breathtaking views of alpine lakes and towering mountain peaks. The trail takes you through a beautiful forest, with stunning stops at Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, and finally reaching the crystal-clear waters of Emerald Lake.
A Bit of Background
The park bears the name of Ran Bellows, who co-founded Cobe Laboratories. This isn't just a random connection - the land actually belonged to Cobe Laboratories originally, which established itself in Lakewood around 1967.
Eventually, the property was handed over to the City of Lakewood to be developed into the public park we enjoy today. It's worth noting that the industrial complex next door now houses the global headquarters for Terumo BCT, a Japanese company that specializes in blood separation equipment.
