A Coastal Retreat

North Beach Oceanside Park spans an impressive 28 acres from 78th to 87th Street along Collins Avenue in Miami, with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean and a clean beachfront. Nature and recreation blend together here, offering a peaceful escape when you need a break from city life.

We love wandering through the winding paths that snake through the grounds, shaded by native sea grape trees and swaying coconut palms. The trails are well-suited for morning jogs, casual strolls, or simply taking in the natural surroundings.

Natural Coastal Ecosystem

A highlight of the park is its natural dune system - not just scenic but crucial for protecting the coastline from erosion. Recent renovations have thoughtfully enhanced visitor amenities while preserving the park's natural character.

The tropical landscaping provides numerous shaded spots across the grounds - particularly welcome during Miami's hot days. There's something calming about sitting under the natural canopy when the afternoon heat peaks.

Things to Do

If you're planning a day out with family or friends, you'll appreciate the picnic areas complete with tables and grills. Many tables sit under covered pavilions, so you don't have to worry about sudden weather changes interrupting your outdoor meal.

The barbecue areas are particularly thoughtful - some even include sinks for washing up, making day-long cookouts much more convenient.

Kids will enjoy the playgrounds with climbing equipment, safely enclosed for peace of mind. Adults haven't been forgotten either - outdoor fitness equipment lines the trails for those wanting to squeeze in a workout with an ocean view.

Fancy a game with friends? The sand volleyball courts provide an ideal setting. Unlike South Beach, this area tends to be less crowded, giving you space to truly enjoy yourself without bumping elbows with other beachgoers.

Beach Experience

The beach itself is a highlight with clean, white sand and clear waters. Lifeguards keep watch during regular hours, so you can swim with added security. After your ocean dip, convenient outdoor showers let you rinse off before heading home.

The recently renovated beach access points make getting to the shoreline easier than ever. If you're looking to avoid the tourist masses, this relatively uncrowded stretch of coast is a refreshing alternative to Miami's more famous beaches.

For the Dog Lovers

Bringing your four-legged friend? The park features well-maintained dog-friendly areas with separate spaces for small and large dogs. It's a great spot for pets to burn off energy and make some canine friends.

Just note that while dogs are welcome in these designated areas, they aren't allowed on the actual beach.

What to Expect

North Beach's location offers a quieter, more laid-back vibe compared to beaches further south. You'll discover clean restrooms across the park and water fountains along walking paths to keep you hydrated.

Occasionally, the park hosts special events - the full moon gatherings with music and community activities are particularly worth checking out if your visit coincides with one.

Parking is available across the street, but it can fill up during busy periods. The park welcomes visitors daily from 7:30AM to 8:30PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy all it has to offer.
