River to Sea Preserve is a 90-acre coastal sanctuary located in Palm Coast, Florida, straddling both sides of Highway A1A near Marineland. This unique preserve spans from the Atlantic Ocean to the Matanzas River (part of the Intracoastal Waterway), encompassing a diverse range of ecosystems.
The preserve protects a rapidly disappearing maritime scrub environment, offering visitors a glimpse into Florida's natural coastal habitats. On the eastern side, facing the Atlantic, visitors can access the beach via a boardwalk that provides scenic ocean views.
Trails and Natural Features
The western portion features walking trails that wind through oak scrub and hardwood hammock, leading to overlooks on the Matanzas River. Hiking and biking trails allow for exploration of the inland areas, while the beach provides opportunities for swimming, fishing, and beachcombing.
Paddlers can launch canoes or kayaks to explore the Matanzas River and Intracoastal Waterway. The preserve's diverse landscape makes it perfect for outdoor recreation activities.
