About Satterfield Park
Your Go-To Spot for Sports and Recreation
Located on Cherokee Road in Athens, Georgia, Satterfield Park spans 13 acres of community-focused green space. Named after Dr. Wayne Satterfield, who helped kickstart the Little League program in Athens, this park has become a treasured gathering place for local athletes and families alike.
Batter Up: Baseball and Softball Spaces
There are five baseball fields, including one specifically for girls' softball. What's great is that they're all lighted, so games and practices can continue even after the sun sets.
The East Athens Little League calls Satterfield Park home, making it a hub of activity during baseball season. We've got to mention the fields themselves - they feature really well-maintained grass infields that players seem to appreciate.
ADArt on the Streets: Private Atlanta Public and Street Art Tour
Explore the creative spirit in the streets of Atlanta as we discover public art with a focus on murals and street art. Atlanta's street art scene is fluid and ever changing - new walls being painted and old walls being buffed.
Grab Your Racket or Paddle
Not into baseball? No problem. The park features three outdoor tennis courts that are also lighted for those evening matches.
In a nod to changing trends, these courts have recently been adapted to include pickleball lines and nets - perfect if you've caught the pickleball bug that's sweeping the nation.
Kid-Friendly Features
If you're bringing little ones along, you'll discover a playground area specifically designed with small children in mind. It's clean, safe, and a great place for the kids to burn off some energy.
There are also several picnic areas where you can enjoy a packed lunch or snack between activities. The restroom facilities are kept clean - always a plus when you're spending the day outdoors.
Beyond Baseball
While baseball might be its claim to fame, Satterfield Park hosts a variety of community sporting events year-round. You'll often find little league football games taking place here, and it's the home field for the AYO Lions youth football organization.
This mix of activities means people of all ages can find something to enjoy.
