Borah Park
About Borah Park
Recreational Facilities
Set in Boise, Idaho, Borah Park spans 13 acres of public recreational space with varied amenities. If you're looking to cool off or just enjoy some outdoor time, this is a nice local option.
The park's outdoor pool is a summer hotspot, offering refreshing relief from Idaho's warm days. While the prices won't break the bank, just keep in mind there's no shallow kiddie section for the little ones under 3 feet tall.
Right next door, you can find a free splash pad that's a total hit with younger children. It's completely separate from the paid pool area, making it a great no-cost option for families looking to beat the heat without committing to a full pool day.
Open Spaces & Play Areas
Spread around the park are well-kept grassy areas excellent for picnic blankets, frisbee tosses, or just lounging with a good book. The green spaces are nicely maintained.
The playground is definitely a highlight, thoughtfully designed with two separate sections - one for the toddler crowd (ages 2-5) and another for the bigger kids. Our personal favorite is the castle-inspired main structure with its whimsical turrets that seem to captivate children's imaginations. You'll also find all the classics: swings, slides, monkey bars, and the adorably charming duck and turtle spring riders. The modern plastic construction stays cooler in the sun than old-school metal equipment would, and the wood chip base provides a safer landing zone for inevitable jumps and tumbles.
Community Features
The park has some nice social elements too. The community garden plots give locals a place to grow their own vegetables and flowers, often sparking conversations between gardeners of all experience levels. For those who prefer mental exercise, the chess tables provide an ideal spot for strategic face-offs in the fresh air.
Picnic Areas
When hunger strikes, you've got options. Tables near the splash pad offer welcome shade for quick snacks, while a cozy picnic shelter accommodates smaller casual gatherings. Planning something bigger? The larger covered pavilion can be reserved ahead of time for family reunions, birthday parties, or community events - making it easy to extend your park visit into a proper celebration.
Amenities & Art
As you wander through the park, you might notice various public art installations that add character and visual interest to the landscape. Clean restrooms are available on-site (always a plus for families with young children).
The peaceful atmosphere during daytime hours and the convenient location in a residential area make Borah Park a popular spot for local families looking for outdoor recreation close to home.
