Peppermint Park
About Peppermint Park
Park Overview
Set in Southwest Boise, Peppermint Park spans a welcoming 7 acres right beside Pepper Ridge Elementary School. Located right next to the school grounds, it offers a pleasant space for both students and nearby residents.
Smooth walking paths wind within the park, making it a breeze for visitors of all mobility levels to explore. While these main paths don't offer much shade, you can find plenty of tree-covered routes through the surrounding neighborhood if you're looking to escape the Idaho sun.
Playground Possibilities
The playground, completed in May 2013, features eco-friendly rubber tiles that not only cut down on maintenance but also make playtime more enjoyable. A welcome addition came in 2023 when two shade structures were installed, offering a respite from both sun and rain.
Little ones between 2-5 years old have their own special area with a dinosaur theme - complete with a climbable dinosaur skull and spine that sparks imagination and prehistoric play. Another hit with the toddler crowd is the school bus spring rider that wobbles and bounces for a delightfully bumpy adventure.
What's nice about this playground is how accessible it is - even three-year-olds can navigate much of it independently. Beyond the climbing structures, kids can engage with interactive elements like an all-ages scavenger hunt or explore the music feature that adds some auditory fun to the experience.
Sports Courts
The athletic-minded have plenty of options here. Two tennis courts and one basketball court await your game, all operating on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pickleball enthusiasts haven't been forgotten either - the park includes two dual-use courts well-suited for this increasingly popular sport.
Open Spaces
Well-maintained grassy areas provide plenty of room to spread out, whether you're organizing an impromptu soccer match, unfurling a picnic blanket, or simply finding a quiet spot to read. These versatile spaces accommodate visitors of all ages looking to enjoy the outdoors.
The expansive lawns also make for perfect dog-walking territory, but you'll want to keep your four-legged friends away from the playground equipment.
Facilities
The park welcomes visitors from sunrise to sunset daily. Clean, well-maintained restrooms are available during the warmer months (April through September), with portable options sometimes available during winter.
Planning a gathering? The park's reservable shelter provides a perfect spot for small events, family reunions, or birthday celebrations.
