Fairview Park
About Fairview Park
A Touch of Boise History
Tucked away west of downtown Boise, Fairview Park is a charming little neighborhood green space spanning just under 2 acres. The city acquired this land back in 1926, but its history runs even deeper. This spot was once part of Agricultural Park - Boise's bustling fairgrounds and horse racing track from 1875 to 1897. Pretty cool to think about the hoofbeats that once echoed where kids now play!
What You'll Find
Fairview offers a peaceful retreat with plenty of shade and winding walking paths throughout. The park has that perfect neighborhood vibe - not too big, not too small. You can find picnic tables scattered around the grounds, making it an ideal spot to enjoy lunch outdoors or gather with family on a weekend afternoon.
If you're driving over, don't worry about parking - there's plenty of on-street options available.
Play & Recreation
Kids have their pick of two playgrounds with jungle gyms designed for different age groups. Both are well-maintained and kept clean, so parents can relax while the little ones burn off energy.
For the more sports-minded visitors, there's a tennis court that local players seem to appreciate, plus a basketball court featuring high hoops with double rims for those pickup games. When summer temperatures climb, the splash pad becomes the park's main attraction - a simple but effective way for families to cool down.
Practical Stuff
You'll come across clean restrooms on-site - always a plus for families planning longer visits. Drinking water is also available throughout the park.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Good news if you're a Fairview Park regular - Boise Parks and Recreation has plans for some significant upgrades in 2025. The tennis courts, basketball court, and playground will all be replaced and modernized.
An exciting addition will be a new accessible playground with equipment designed for spinning, swinging, sliding, and climbing - making the park more inclusive for all children. The restrooms will get a makeover too, and van accessible parking will be added along Bannock Street.
House Rules
Note that alcoholic beverages (including beer and wine) aren't permitted in Fairview Park. And like all City of Boise parks, smoking and vaping are only allowed in designated areas.
